adoptions

The Vancouver Humane Society does not operate an animal shelter. We choose instead to focus on the underlying problems of animal abuse and to assist in positive and practical change.

Consequently, we do not have animals up for adoption. However, because of our emergency animal assistance program providing emergency medical help for animals in desperate need, and our extensive networking, we often come across situations where animals need homes.

On this page you will find links to other organizations and shelters, and on occasion, individuals, who are taking on the responsibility for sheltering homeless animals. We hope you will find this useful and please know that we endeavour to keep the information as up-to-date as possible.

Thank you for adopting a homeless animal. Animals should not be sold - they are sentient beings. And as long as one cat or dog is dying in a shelter, it is completely unethical for anyone to breed any more.

Information provided on this page in no way infers VHS endorsement or oversight.
